The motto for IT United, a United Way donor network group comprised of IT Professionals, is “connecting the dots.” Throughout the year, IT United members volunteer their time to put on an IT Career fair for college and high school students at UW-Milwaukee, as well as coordinating a variety of job shadow opportunities for these students to learn more about the IT field and connect with professionals.

Katrina Hightower, a 25-year-old student at UW-Milwaukee studying Information Technology, saw the benefit of these connections when she found her dream internship with ManpowerGroup as a result of her volunteerism at the IT United Career Fair. In this role, and as a presenter through the IT United job shadow program, Katrina has had the opportunity to inspire other young people to follow in her footsteps towards achievement in the STEM fields.

IT United members are information technology professionals who have a desire to make a difference in our community through contributions to United Way, advocacy, and volunteerism. The group holds an annual technology career fair at UWM, recruiting students to serve as volunteers while also offering them the opportunity to explore job prospects and find success just like Katrina. Learn more about IT United and how you can get involved.

Already an IT United member? Join us for the IT United CIO Forum on Friday, February 17th, and don't miss the IT United Technology Career Fair on Tuesday, March 14th.
