Help bring Right to Counsel to our local community!
Only 3% of tenants in eviction proceedings have legal representation in court. Together, we can change that.
Eviction is a major cause of homelessness, especially for women and children. Right to Counsel is a growing national movement that provides free legal counsel to families facing eviction. Data shows that Right to Counsel reduces default judgments, increases equitable outcomes, and leads to positive changes for landlords, tenants, and entire communities.
But to make Right to Counsel a reality in our community, we need your help.
Join United Way to learn how we support families facing eviction and housing instability, discuss with others, and assemble wellness kits - all from the comfort of your own home. Thank you to our sponsor Johnson Controls!
A donation to United Way's Community Fund supports programs that provide mental and behavioral health support and so much more for individuals and families in our community.
Ninety percent of eviction cases are dismissed or delayed when a tenant has legal representation, according to the Milwaukee Eviction Defense Project.
