Diversity Leadership Society
Reducing Barriers to Employment & Advancement Roundtable
The Diversity Leadership Society has supported the Reducing Barriers to Employment & Advancement initiative through the ten years since our creation.
United Way recently convened a roundtable that brought together 44 funded organizations from the initiative. Participants engaged in solutions-oriented conversations, sharing both challenges and innovative approaches that are shaping their work.
This roundtable also served as a platform to deepen support through our Volunteer Engagement Team, offering resources and connections to strengthen collective impact.

Women United
Women United Support Teen Mental Wellness: Empowering Minds
Women United donated more than $330,000 during the 2024 campaign to support our Teen Mental Wellness: Empowering Minds initiative. Our two signature events, Women United Bruncheon and SPREE: Shopping for Change, raised more than $230,000 for this work.
We are excited to add the following Empowering Minds Schools for the 2025-26 academic year:
Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Milwaukee
Marquette University High School
Pewaukee High School
Ronald Reagan High School
Shorewood High School
St. Augustine Preparatory Academy
Vel R. Philips Juvenile Justice Center School
Wauwatosa East High School
Women United and our Mental Wellness Allies are continuing our advocacy efforts and were instrumental in restoring the one-time funding of school-based mental health to $30 million in the 2025-27 state budget.

Emerging Leaders
Thank You, Members!
Thank you, Emerging Leaders members, for hosting a United Way Technology Distribution Event for Donor Networks. We distributed 342 laptops!
These events support Techquity, an initiative working to close the digital divide by distributing reliable devices into the hands of students, job seekers, older adults, and more. Emerging Leaders uplifts all four key initiatives of United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County, and this was the perfect hands-on way to make a big impact while experiencing the work of Techquity directly.
If you would like to learn more about Emerging Leaders or how you/your workplace can support Techquity, please contact Kristen Hagen.
