Christy L. Brown, J.D. is the 2023 Recipient of the Linda McFerrin African American Nonprofit Leadership Award

United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County is proud to announce Christy L. Brown, J.D. is the 2023 Recipient of the Linda McFerrin African American Nonprofit Leadership Award. Brown is the President of Alverno College.

The recipient of this annual award is chosen by United Way's Diversity Leadership Society and a $5,000 grant is made to the organization they represent. The winner is announced each year on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.

The Diversity Leadership Society's annual Linda McFerrin Award was established in 2018 by Cory and Michelle Nettles. The award recognizes an outstanding African American nonprofit executive who has provided exemplary leadership in the community. Brown will accept her award at the United Way Annual Meeting on February 29.

Groove for Good – AMPED Karaoke Event

Join Pride United for a do-good time at AMPED Karaoke Bar. There will be a special guest performance from one of Milwaukee's talented Drag Queens. Pride United is a network of LGBTQ+ leaders, allies, and advocates who are committed to addressing key issues that disproportionately affect members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Celebrate International Women's Day with Technology United by attending the 2024 CIO Forum, which will feature a panel on attracting and retaining women in the technology industry.

Please join the LINC Committee to welcome Jaquilynn Huff (left), from Familia Dental, as an incoming co-chair for 2024 and 2025. Huff became involved with United Way after participating in the Spring 2023 Project LEAD cohort and has continued to support a variety of United Way volunteer opportunities.
