2024 Women United Bruncheon

Last week, Women United hosted its annual Bruncheon and gathered more than 500 community leaders to be the first to publicly hear our goal for our newest initiative, Teen Mental Wellness: Empowering Minds. Amy Lindner, President & CEO of United Way announced: "Empowering Minds Schools will elevate the mental wellness of 21,000 high school students by 2030."

In 2024, United Way will add five more schools to the two schools that participated in the 2023 pilot program, serving a total of seven schools during 2024-25 academic school year.

United Way's 2024 Project LEAD Cohort kicked off their learning on Wednesday, May 1!

Project LEAD is a board training program that emphasizes preparing community members from underrepresented board populations. The focus is to equip women, racially and ethnically diverse, LGBTQ+, and young professionals with the skills they need to take on leadership roles on nonprofit boards and committees.

Diversity Leadership Society co-chair Samantha Maldonado joined a panel of five community leaders at the group's Orientation to talk about her journey with serving on nonprofit boards.

Retire United

Gunna Middleton

Share your Leadership Skills!

Campaign Coordinators are seasonal staff that join United Way from August to mid-December to help support the hundreds of organizations that run workplace campaigns. This role is ideal for retirees looking for fulfilling, short term employment that provides a source of income too! Gunna Middleton (pictured) has served in this role since 2019. Here's what she says:
"The experience and impact gets more meaningful each year, because every day I continue to learn more about what United Way does and how they work with mission-driven organizations and businesses that have powerful and positive impacts in our community. I know more about the incredible investment and generosity, by so many, to United Way and how it continues to improve the lives of so many in our community.

As a result of my Campaign Coordinator experience and work, I believe in United Way. It has strengthened my knowledge of community issues, and I am honored to work with key organizations that work towards addressing those issues. I know we all must play a part in creating a stronger and safer community and to Live United."
