Brittney’s mother kicked her out when she was 18 because she could not accept her daughter was a lesbian. Without a job or other housing options, Brittney moved in with her girlfriend. Soon after, the relationship became abusive. Brittney left the situation and became homeless.
Brittney entered Q-BLOK, a program for LGBT young adults at Pathfinders. In addition to housing it provides case management services. Within a few months, Brittney was able to enroll in college and secure a part-time job.
After one year Brittney completed the Q-BLOK program. She earned a college degree, found full time employment, purchased a car and secured an apartment.
