United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County
Shelter beds fill up quickly, especially during cold weather. In early 2019, the Waukesha Housing Action Coalition and United Way opened a winter overflow shelter for women and families from Waukesha County. Since opening in 2019, over 210 adults and children have been sheltered, during the coldest months of the year.
United Way partner agency Community Advocates operates the shelter, providing guests with a safe and secure place to stay, as well as support and case management.
