Award Honorees
The Linda McFerrin African American Nonprofit Leadership Award recognizes an outstanding African American nonprofit executive who has provided exemplary leadership in the community.
Clarence Johnson
Clarence Johnson, president and CEO of Wisconsin Community Services (WCS), has been a guiding force in Milwaukee’s nonprofit sector for more than 40 years, with a career that has been rooted in compassion, innovation, and a deep commitment to community well-being. Clarence has helped to shape several area organizations over the years. He joined WCS in 2010 as the associate executive director. Through the years, he has provided high-level leadership for various programs and divisions, helping to expand the work of WCS, and cultivate collaborations with other community organizations and stakeholders. Clarence has also served on over 20 nonprofit boards and remains an active member of the Milwaukee area community. Clarence currently serves as the board president for NAMI Southeast Wisconsin and is a member of the Greater Milwaukee Committee.
The John A. Puelicher Award recognizes the achievements of an outstanding Campaign Coordinator in honor of John A. Puelicher.
Julie Anthony
Julie Anthony is a nonprofit development and fundraising professional with experience in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Julie began her career in financial marketing at Sunstone Financial Group (now UMB Fund Services) before leaving the workforce to care for her two sons. Since returning, she has worked with Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the Children’s Wisconsin Foundation, and has spent two campaign seasons with United Way. She also supports community fundraising as a 50/50 raffle seller for Brewers Community Foundation.
