United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County

I recently read a wonderful Abraham Lincoln quote from the first Lincoln-Douglas Debate, August 21, 1858. He said:
“In this and like communities, public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, nothing can fail; without it, nothing can succeed.”
Public sentiment is our United Way. The people who make up our community. The people we serve and serve with. Our extended family. Our network. Our purpose.
For all of you who invest in the potential of others – thank you. Like you, I want great things for our community. Every year the community rallies and mobilizes resources through United Way to help neighbors, family, friends, and strangers. It is this same spirit of our community that, over time, can rally to create conditions to change the trajectory of an entire generation.
With your support, we are providing a bigger platform to collaborate, a perspective to prioritize, an engine to raise and deploy funds, a huge volunteer force, and the leadership necessary to stay strong and focused.
The record $60,130,484 raised in our 2016 campaign puts United Way on pace to invest more than ever into changing lives in our 4-county region in 2017. In addition, the achievement of 21,124 volunteer hours served during the 2016 Season of Caring indicates your willingness to roll up your sleeves and give a hand where it is needed most.
Thank you for investing your time and resources to make our community a better place to live.
Mary Lou Young
