Five Inspirational Girl Scouts Give Back
October 19, 2016
In the spring of 2016, Cadette Troop 8221 from Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast wanted to find a way to help people in our community experiencing homelessness. The girls held a health and hygiene drive. The toiletry items were donated to United Way this summer. On Thursday, October 20 those items will be distributed to hundreds who are experiencing homelessness in our community during Project Homeless Connect. Each Girl Scout shares why they made it their mission to give back to those in need.
I feel the items collected will make a lot of people happy and change their lives. I will keep donating at least every year supporting the ones in need! It's important to donate because we want less fortunate people to feel welcome and wanted here in Wisconsin. ~ Avaya Mallett
I feel good that I can help people who are less fortunate than me. More people should donate because it makes you feel good to help people who really need it. I will keep making a difference by telling people what I did and how I felt during and after the project. ~ Alanna Bullock
When I see homeless families it makes me sad because they don't have what I have. They don't have good smelling soaps and lotions. I will keep accepting people for who they are and always looking for more ways to help. ~ Korynne Moga
I hope that I helped at least a few lives. The way that I will keep making a difference after the project is by cleaning up in my neighborhood. I think that the people we helped are going to be very thankful. ~ Taniyah Yancey
I’m thankful the people who are homeless and will benefit from these items can now take care of their personal hygiene. It will also give them hope to see that there are still good people in the world that help out others who are less fortunate. Giving to others is a blessing and in return you will feel great inside. ~ Adriana Harris
