Take the Challenge: 24 Ways to Give Back in 24 Hours

Monday, February 29 is Leap Day. As United Way supporters we share the belief with United Way that Leap Day is a gift. It’s an extra 24 hours to do good. We’ve compiled a list of 24 easy and fun ways you can do good and make an impact in someone else’s life with your 24 hours. We encourage you to share this list and challenge others to make sure it’s a day our community will never forget. On Leap Day use the hashtag #LeapDay24 and share what you are doing with your extra 24 hours!
- Compliment a person you don’t know.
- Help a neighbor better use his computer or cell phone.
- Share a smile with a stranger.
- Give someone flowers.
- Tell someone a joke.
- Buy coffee or a meal for the person behind you in line at the drive thru.
- Give someone a hug.
- Put a bird feeder in your yard.
- Share outgrown clothes with a charity.
- Help a neighbor shovel.
- Hold the door open for someone.
- Share treats with your coworkers.
- Donate books to a school.
- Tell your partner you appreciate them.
- Send a thank you note to someone who supports you.
- Encourage your child to donate gently-used toys.
- Call a friend just to say hello.
- Read to a child.
- Invite someone different to your home for dinner.
- Serve a meal at a local shelter.
- Invite a friend to lunch.
- Draw a picture for a far-away friend or send a letter to a relative.
- Say....Thank you!
- Volunteer through United Way.
