On December 19, 2023, at The Grain Exchange in Milwaukee, United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County gathered with our campaign co-chairs, cabinet members, and the community to celebrate our 2023 Community Campaign closing event. Together, we raised $57,042,911!
Against a backdrop of elegant frescos, granite, and soaring ceilings, the community gathered to celebrate the achievements made together during the campaign season and throughout 2023. Members of United Way Donor Networks took to the stage to express the important work being done. Amira Adams, the 2022 United Way Philanthropic Youth award winner, performed a beautiful spoken word about United Way and our Key Initiatives. Together, we applauded our Million Dollar Companies, cheered our Give & Win Sweepstakes winners, and celebrated the historic milestones made within our Safe & Stable Homes initiative.
Campaign Co-Chairs Sheldon Cuffie (American Family Insurance Group), Michelle Nettles (ManpowerGroup), and Stephanie Riesch-Knapp (R&R Insurance Services, Inc.) dropped a banner from the balcony announcing our campaign total to a roar of applause and cheers. After the total amount raised was announced, a full-circle moment occurred as we gathered to take a group photo, reminiscent of the photo taken at the August Campaign Kickoff. Attendees continued the evening with hors d'oeuvres and beverages while mingling and enjoying the relaxing music provided by three of UPAF's Youth Orchestra members.
As we look to 2024, we believe we can change lives in our community. We believe we can offer people hope and possibilities. And we believe that there is nothing we cannot accomplish when we do it together.
