TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s dedication to supporting individuals and families in need has made a significant impact in our community.

We believe in the power of collaboration to drive meaningful change in our communities. One of our strongest partnerships is with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, a company that shares our commitment to giving back. It’s a partnership rooted in giving, and branches to a deep level of respect. It’s what makes collaborating with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK so successful.

This collaboration has allowed us to extend our reach and provide essential support to those who are in the greatest need, deepening our collective impact in our community.

“There’s nothing better and more rewarding than helping somebody that needs something from us,” Skye Swirth, General Manager at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK said. “We love those opportunities to get out there in the community and just move people forward.”

And move people forward the company has. One of United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County’s most impactful events is Project Homeless Connect. Every fall, this event provides crucial resources for individuals experiencing homelessness in both Milwaukee and Waukesha. The team at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK has been instrumental in making this initiative successful.

“Personally, this one means a lot,” Skye shared. “Seeing someone in need without a roof over their head, it really hits home. We know people in the very communities we serve, and we see firsthand the struggles people go through. That makes the work even more rewarding.”

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK has also played a vital role in helping United Way distribute other critical resources. They have helped transport thousands of backpacks filled with school supplies to students, ensuring they have the tools they need for success, and have helped deliver diapers to Diaper Hubs and families who rely on this support through our Diaper Bank.

"When the calls came stating there were more and more diapers coming in and you needed more transportation,” Heather Lund, Director of Business Development and Marketing from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK reflected, “It shows just how much need there is but also shows just how many people are giving. That makes us happy.”TWO MEN AND A TRUCK team members load backpacks

With a commitment to giving back, many team members from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK contribute not only through their work, but also by donating and volunteering personally. Fundraising for United Way at the company has included casual dress days where the requirement to participate includes a donation to United Way. Teammates and fellow leaders actively look for ways to partner with not only United Way, but many nonprofit organizations.

“I’ve donated, and now it’s time to donate my time,” Skye noted. “It’s one thing to give items, but seeing people’s gratitude firsthand is a whole different experience.”

Heather agreed, and emphasized how small contributions can make a big impact: “A lot of people think, ‘What can I really do?’ But even little things – small donations, a few hours of volunteering – they all add up. When our community thrives, we all benefit.”

Heather and Skye also stressed that the importance of giving back isn’t just what you see on the surface. They recognize that neighbors, friends, and even people in any workplace could be struggling. Armed with that understanding, they noted that donating to nonprofit organizations like United Way is a powerful way to create positive change.

“A lot of people think that they don't know anybody that needs help,” said Heather. “But everybody knows somebody that needs help. They just might not say it.”

“To me, United Way is a helping hand,” Skye said. “No matter what someone is going through, United Way has resources to support them. Our movers come back from these events wanting to do it again. That’s the impact you’ve left on us.”

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK has been selected as a recipient of the Lifting Our Impact Behind the Scenes award at United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Awards this April. It’s partnerships like this that exemplify the strength of a united community. Their dedication to supporting individuals and families in need has made a significant impact, and we are proud to work alongside them in our joint efforts to lift our communities. Whether it’s delivering school supplies, helping families in crisis, or mobilizing critical resources, we know that together, we can make a lasting difference.
