My Story

September 29, 2025

Stories have the power to open hearts and minds, to spark change, and to build bridges between people and communities. They remind us of where we’ve been…and show where we can go.

Learn why Micah Ogé, a Pride United Co-chair, supports United Way as he shares his story.

Micah OgeI’ve been a volunteer in my community for as long as I can remember. Whether it was packing diapers, preparing school supplies or organizing outreach projects, I’ve always believed in showing up. United Way became part of that journey early on. As a child of immigrants, I've learned the value of our community coming together for worthwhile causes. Over time, I noticed how deeply United Way invested in people — how they listened, followed through, and created real change.

My relationship with United Way grew stronger after I was honored with the Philanthropic 5 award. It wasn’t about recognition. It was about making things happen. I realized how my values aligned with United Way's commitment to equity, belonging, and long-term impact. It felt less like an organization and more like a family rooted in compassion and action.

Since then, I’ve deepened my involvement and now, co-chair the Pride United Donor Network to address the crisis of homelessness in our LGBTQ community, especially among youth. That work reminded me that change starts when we make space for every story. United Way doesn’t just support people — it uplifts their dignity. And that’s something I will always stand behind.

Helping people isn’t a side job. It’s a way of life. I've learned that by establishing my career at the intersection of growing sustainable businesses, developing people and teams, and making an impact on the local community. Whether as a father, a professor, or an advocate, I believe that every person deserves safety, opportunity, and respect. United Way makes that happen.

Micah Oge at the 2025 United Way Community Campaign KickoffIn my work with Pride United, we’ve tackled hard issues, like the growing reality of homelessness among LGBTQ youth. It’s not just about a roof over someone’s head, it’s about helping people feel seen, valued, and protected. That’s what United Way does. They show up, and they stay.

Supporting United Way also connects deeply to my personal values. Their programs don’t just help people survive — they help them thrive.

As a father to Rain Beau, my support has taken on new meaning. I want my child to grow up in a world where dignity is protected, and every community member has a path forward. I’ve been proud to contribute to restoring stability for others and building relationships rooted in care. And I know United Way continues that work every day.

We don’t always get to choose the challenges people face, but we do get to choose how we respond. United Way chooses to respond with love, strategy, and hope. That’s why I’ll always support them.
