Safe & Stable Homes

Home is a place to share with those you love and who love you. But some families are just one missed mortgage or rent payment away from losing their home due to daily financial pressures. Our Safe & Stable Homes initiative is guided by several strategies to prevent and end family homelessness, or if it can’t be prevented – such as a house fire or an individual fleeing domestic violence – that the event is a brief, one-time occurrence. 

At the end of 2023, we met the 58 criteria established by the U.S. Interagency Council of Homelessness to end family homelessness in two of our four counties, including Milwaukee, the largest in our footprint. We’ve increased efforts to hit those metrics in the remaining two counties.
